Green Fuel Forward, an initiative launched by GenZero and the World Economic Forum in May 2025 to scale corporate demand for sustainable aviation fuel, said it has expanded its partnership structure and added new members as it enters its next phase of market activation. The announcement was made during Green Markets Day at New York Climate Week.
The Center for Green Market Activation and the Singapore Sustainable Aviation Fuel Company have joined the initiative's Steering Committee alongside founding member GenZero. The group said the expansion moves it from building market awareness and procurement readiness toward facilitating corporate participation in transactions for sustainable aviation fuel and SAF certificates across Asia.
SAF supply remains constrained by its premium over conventional jet fuel and production capacity that is still developing, the initiative said. SAF certificates allow companies to support the use of SAF and claim the associated emission reductions toward their climate targets even where direct access to physical SAF is limited or impossible. The initiative said it will work with industry, policymakers and standards bodies to establish a framework for corporate engagement.
Amazon, Bain & Company and Temasek Trust have joined as members, the initiative said, with Temasek Trust also joining as a catalytic contributor providing funding to offset procurement costs. Total membership now stands at 48. The World Economic Forum, which helped shape the platform and convene stakeholders in the initiative's first year, is handing the secretariat function over to the Steering Committee.
Buyers continue to face barriers, including questions about how SAF certificate purchases can be reported under the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, limited visibility of regional supply and a lack of dedicated in-house procurement capabilities, the initiative said. It said catalytic funding, including cost offsets and co-matching for select first-time buyers, can help lower cost barriers and support early participation.
