Fifth straight quarter
AlphaESS has been named a Tier 1 energy storage manufacturer in BloombergNEF's Q4 2026 list, the fifth quarter in a row it has appeared there, the company said.
A tighter bankability test
BNEF raised its bankability requirements for the quarter, asking equipment providers to show project experience backed by non-recourse financing from at least two commercial banks across eligible projects. AlphaESS said its inclusion gives developers, investors and engineering, procurement and construction partners another point of reference when weighing storage suppliers.
200 MWh in Europe
The company put recent European developments in Lithuania, Austria and Germany at 200 MWh in total. A 120 MWh project in Lithuania using the Aster 5000 has passed its Factory Acceptance Test, with the equipment ready for shipment. In Austria, AlphaESS supplied the DC-side battery system for a 30 MW / 60 MWh project at Hörsching that combines solar generation, battery storage and electric truck charging, and its 40 MWh grid-services section began operating in September 2026. In Bavaria, Germany, the company is supplying the DC-side battery for a 20 MWh project built for grid balancing and energy arbitrage, with commissioning planned for 2027.
Inside the Aster 5000
The Aster 5000 is a liquid-cooled system housed in a 20-foot container with about 5 MWh of capacity per unit. It carries intelligent thermal management, a battery management system and multi-layer safety protection, and is designed for utility-scale uses including grid stabilization and the integration of renewable generation.
