Nearly one in three desktop users now interact with agentic AI services, according to telemetry from Gen, which shows people asking AI to act on their behalf rather than only answer questions. The company said that shift covers work such as researching purchases, planning trips, managing everyday tasks and handling finances.
Gen has launched the AI Data Checker in beta. The tool was developed by the Gen AI Foundry, the company's hub for emerging AI innovation, and is the latest addition to its Agent Trust Hub. Gen said it is designed to make it easier for people to understand how popular AI apps and agents handle their data. A user enters an email address or username and the tool returns a list of connected AI apps and services, and it also scans for non-AI accounts where personal information may have been shared. It shows what information a service collects, whether that information may be used to improve or train AI models, how long it may be kept, and which privacy controls are available.
Howie Xu, Gen's Chief AI and Innovation Officer, said AI is becoming much more personal because people are asking it to do more for them, and that people should understand what they are giving an AI access to in return. He said the AI Data Checker is about making that easier to see so people can make choices about the AI tools they use with more confidence.
The Agent Trust Hub launched in February and has since expanded to include VPN for Agents and Sage, according to the company. Gen said its brands also offer Norton Genie Scam Detector, Norton AI Agent Protection and deepfake detection in Norton and Avast, along with the new Norton Family Assistant, a private assistant supported by Norton technology that can handle tasks with a user's permission. The AI Data Checker is available now, and Gen said people can also sign up for early access to upcoming products and services aimed at emerging concerns as reliance on AI assistants and agents grows.
