Zetrix AI and CAICT launch KYA identity service for AI agents

The Malaysian firm and China's CAICT say the Know Your Agent service gives AI agents verifiable identities tied to an accountable owner, with a cross-border pilot planned across the Middle East, Africa, China and ASEAN.

Zetrix AI and CAICT launch KYA identity service for AI agents

What the service does

Zetrix AI Berhad and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology have launched a Know Your Agent service, which assigns each participating AI agent a verifiable digital identity linked to an authenticated individual or organisation. The two organisations said the framework is intended to let businesses, governments and digital service providers check not only an agent's identity but also who it represents, what it is authorised to do and whether its actions fall within approved limits.

Owners set the permissions an agent operates under, covering which services it may access, what information it may use, who it may transact with and how much it may spend. Where an agent hands a task to another agent, the delegated authority cannot exceed the original grant, permissions can be revoked, and signed records of activity form an auditable trail. The service builds on W3C Verifiable Credentials and incorporates AvatarLabs' Agentic Wallet technology to manage credentials and verify delegated permissions.

Cross-border pilot planned

The launch includes a planned pilot involving organisations in the Middle East, Africa, China and ASEAN, subject to confirmation. It will examine how agent identity and authorisation can be recognised across jurisdictions while local control over identity systems and trust decisions is preserved, and will look at applications including cross-border trade, digital payments, government services and interactions between autonomous agents.

Results are to be submitted to the International Telecommunication Union, IEEE and other standards development organisations for consideration in discussions on global AI identity and accountability standards, the company said. Zetrix AI and CAICT said they plan to submit findings jointly to the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector Study Group 17 through its Focus Group on Trust and Identity for Humans and Agentic AI.

Where it was announced

The service was announced at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, China, and at the ICT Development Forum 2026 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. TS Wong, group managing director of Zetrix AI, said that greater autonomy for AI agents must come with greater accountability, and that the aim is for every agent to be identified, every permission verified and every action traced to an accountable owner. Xiaoyu You, head of the international department at CAICT's ASTRON network, said the joint service is expected to help foster a cross-border trusted network for interoperable agentic AI.
