UD info said the cryptographic module used in its DB Series SSD drives has been validated under FIPS 140-3 by the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Cryptographic Module Validation Program. The validation is recorded in NIST CMVP Certificate No. 5479, issued on Aug. 12, 2026, and is at Overall Level 2.
The company said the certificate gives independent assurance that the module meets recognised security requirements, and that it helps customers meet security, compliance and procurement needs in government, critical infrastructure and other mission-critical applications.
Gibson Chen, general manager of UD info, said the validation reflects a commitment to security that is backed by independent assessment, and strengthens the company's ability to help customers meet compliance requirements while supplying the performance, reliability and long-term availability that mission-critical applications require.
FIPS 140-3 is the current U.S. federal security standard for cryptographic modules. The company said the certificate completes a three-year security roadmap, which followed FIPS 140-2 validation for its DA Series in 2024 and Common Criteria certification in 2025.
Five certified configurations of the DB Series are offered, with hardware-based AES-XTS-256 encryption, NVMe PCIe performance and support for the TCG Opal Security Subsystem Class protocol. UD info said product specifications and datasheets can be downloaded from its rugged applications page. The company describes itself as a Taiwan-based manufacturer of industrial-grade storage, including SSDs, SD and microSD cards, eMMC, USB flash drives and DRAM modules.
