Tencent Cloud said it has been named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Managed Edge Services 2026 Vendor Assessment (doc #US54122426, September 2026). The company announced the result on Sept. 16.
According to the assessment, Tencent Cloud's EdgeOne platform combines intelligent acceleration, DDoS protection, web application firewall, bot management, edge compute, edge storage and edge AI inference, together with web application and AI agent development and deployment through EdgeOne Makers, all delivered on a single platform. That approach reduces the integration and operational complexity customers face when managing several products, the assessment said. The same assessment said content delivery performance and network proximity are now baseline expectations for managed edge services rather than points of difference, and that the competitive frontier has moved to AI inference at the edge, where vendors are judged on GPU availability, model deployment tooling, inference latency and token cost efficiency relative to centralized cloud AI services.
Tencent Cloud said it is developing EdgeOne into an edge foundation for AI-native applications, with edge acceleration, security protection and edge AI inference alongside full-stack tools for developing and deploying web applications and AI agents. Its Booster edge inference platform extends the company's distributed infrastructure from content delivery to AI computing, the company said, so that image and video generation, voice and audio processing, storage and caching take place nearer to end users, supporting uses such as AIGC production, real-time media processing, intelligent recommendations and advertising decision-making with millisecond-level response times. On security, the company said it is extending EdgeOne's protection beyond traditional cyberattacks to the identification and management of emerging access patterns including AI crawlers and AI agents.
The company said its Makers edge hosting platform now supports web applications and AI agents in addition to traditional website hosting, letting developers bring completed projects online with minimal adaptation without building and maintaining the underlying runtime infrastructure. Tencent Cloud said Makers serves more than 500,000 users and hosts more than one million websites, covering corporate websites, cross-border e-commerce and AI SaaS applications as well as agents in industries including healthcare, government and legal services.
Tencent Cloud said EdgeOne operates more than 3,200 edge nodes with over 400Tbps of network capacity and more than 50 secondary ISP interconnections, covering the Chinese Mainland and major markets across Asia Pacific, North America, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe. It said IDC's China Gaming Cloud Market Tracker for the first half of 2025 ranked Tencent Cloud CDN services powered by EdgeOne first in China by revenue for four consecutive years, with gaming resource delivery volume also first. The company also said it was named a representative vendor in three Gartner Market Guides covering DDoS mitigation, web application and API protection, and edge distribution platforms, with related capabilities incorporated into 3GPP international standards.
