SCANOLOGY launches AirGO Pad for on-site 3D inspection

What SCANOLOGY launched

SCANOLOGY has introduced the AirGO Pad, a portable measurement platform that puts computing, industrial 3D inspection software and touchscreen controls into one device. According to the company, it pairs with compatible SCANOLOGY wireless 3D scanners so operators can finish the inspection workflow on site without a separate laptop.

SCANOLOGY said operators inspecting a large component have to move around it while keeping scan data and measurement controls to hand, and that returning to a laptop to check results or adjust settings can interrupt the work, particularly where space is limited.

Scanning, measuring and reporting

Users connect a compatible wireless scanner and see 3D data as it is captured, monitoring scan coverage and quality while they work, the company said. Aligning data, performing measurements and inspecting results all happen on the same device, and operators can add comparison points, features and other inspection elements during scanning.

Preconfigured templates let operators generate standardised inspection reports directly on the AirGO Pad. A product manager at SCANOLOGY said that making a measurement system mobile involves more than how the scanner is carried, because operators also need their data and inspection tools beside the component, and that the device was developed to bring those activities together, from reviewing scan data to producing the report.

Hardware and supported systems

The AirGO Pad has a touchscreen and can be held while an operator moves around a part, or set up by unfolding a convertible stand to review results on a suitable surface. A neck strap adds support while the device is carried and operated.

It supports SCANOLOGY's third-generation handheld and wireless optical 3D scanning systems, standard CAD and 3D formats, and wireless synchronisation with a PC for measurement, annotation and review. Product details are on the AirGo Pad page.

The company

SCANOLOGY develops industrial 3D measurement products for manufacturing and engineering, used for 3D measurement, automated inspection and quality control. The company says more than 10,000 enterprises across over 70 countries and regions use them, in industries including aerospace, automotive and heavy manufacturing.
