What SAP announced

SAP said at its TechEd conference in Berlin on 27 October that it has added capabilities to Joule Studio, Joule Work and the SAP Business AI Platform, alongside a new version of its tabular foundation model. The company said the changes give developers more ways to build and extend AI agents, more business context for those agents to reason with, and stronger controls over how they run across an enterprise (the company said).

Joule Studio offers no-code and pro-code tools and a choice of more than 70 AI models, according to the release. Customers in its early adopter program can also design and run n8n workflows inside it, with wider availability to follow. SAP said customer data is not shared with anyone to train or improve large language models.

Model to run in orbit

SAP said SAP-RPT is to be deployed on the HPE Spaceborne Computer-2 aboard the International Space Station, which the company described as a validation of an enterprise AI model running at the edge. The model is planned to work onboard to help triage anomalies, predict issues before they escalate, reconstruct missing sensor values from historical data and produce explainable mission-health reports for astronauts and ground teams, without sending data back to Earth.

SAP-RPT-2.0 moves the model beyond classification and regression to anomaly and outlier detection and to analysis through embeddings, the company said. A separate model, SAP-RPT-TS, is intended to forecast time-indexed business metrics inside SAP Integrated Business Planning without custom machine learning.

Free runtime through December

SAP said deploying and running custom agents on its managed Joule Studio runtime will be free for select customers through December 2026 under a time-bound promotion, while design-time tooling for building and testing agents and n8n workflows stays free within fair-use limits. The company also introduced an SAP Enterprise AI Gateway to manage AI traffic across an enterprise and an AI Governance Assistant intended to help customers meet EU AI Act requirements.
