Partner Tech said its AI-powered self-checkout platform, which includes real-time theft prevention, has been certified for integration with Verifone's Commander site controller and point-of-sale platform. The certification opens deployment across more than 55,000 fuel and convenience sites in North America, about 45% of U.S. fuel and convenience stores, the company said.
Retailers can put the self-checkout terminals alongside the Verifone Commander C18 terminals they already run, the company said, without replacing the payment, fueling, loyalty and store management systems held inside Commander. One or several self-checkout lanes can be added while payments, fuel sales, loyalty programs, promotions and site operations stay managed through a centralized Commander Site Controller.
The range covers the Alfred, Starling and Paula terminals and runs on the company's Otter SCO software suite, which uses AI and computer vision. Among the listed capabilities are AI theft detection and real-time transaction monitoring, barcode scanning and automatic item recognition, a security scale, live video and age verification support, and integration with Verifone point-of-sale, payment and loyalty programs. It also includes an attendant station for lane monitoring, a dashboard for performance monitoring, and hardware options for different store formats and traffic volumes.
Sandra Hsia, president of Partner Tech USA, said convenience retailers need solutions that improve efficiency without compromising the customer experience, and that the platform combines faster checkout, loss prevention and greater shopper convenience. James Hervey, executive vice president of petro at Verifone, said Commander was built with an open architecture so that companies such as Partner Tech can connect quickly and deliver value to retailers.
The certified solution is available immediately for convenience stores, travel centers and fuel retailers throughout North America, with availability in further regions and markets worldwide, the company said. Partner Tech will show the solution at booth 6179 at the NACS Show from October 7 to 9, 2026.
