Two wafer platforms
GaNrich Semiconductor Corporation, a Taiwan-based company working on gallium nitride, said it has completed wafer platforms on both silicon and sapphire substrates. Its devices cover 40V to 250V at low-to-mid voltage and 650V to 1200V at high voltage, the company said. It lists AI data centres, backup battery units, robotics, drones, electric vehicles and on-board chargers among the applications.
Packages built to replace silicon
For the 40V–250V range, GaNrich said it offers packages that are compatible with existing standard silicon devices, and that it has completed development and supply-chain work on 5×6, 5×3 and 3×3 formats. Gate drivers can be integrated into the same package, which the company said simplifies circuit design. For 650V–1200V parts, it lists pin-to-pin drop-in replacements for traditional silicon components, aimed at high-power AI data centre supplies, AC-DC conversion and electric vehicles.
Planned 1200V switch
GaNrich said it plans to launch a 1200V bidirectional switching product that is intended to reduce the number of system components and increase voltage design margin, allowing a single-stage power-conversion architecture. The company also said it is one of a few suppliers globally with full voltage-range coverage, and currently the only GaN designer in Taiwan able to provide mass-production parts for customer validation. Selected products have been validated by customers in automotive, energy storage and industrial applications, it said.
Supply-chain pitch
The company said the global GaN market is currently concentrated in China-based supply chains, while European and US customers have new in-house capacity requirements. GaNrich said it coordinates GaN wafer manufacturing and packaging resources in Taiwan and works with supply-chain partners elsewhere, which it presents as a non-red supply chain option for global customers.
