XPENG names its Robotaxi XPENG YOYO and opens public registration in China

The company says the brand launch moves its Robotaxi from technical validation into marketization, with registration on invitation codes and a dedicated page on its website.

XPENG's Robotaxi has been given a brand name, XPENG YOYO, and online registration for autonomous driving rides opened to the public in China on the same day through invitation codes, the company said. A dedicated page also went live on the company's website. XPENG said the step takes the Robotaxi from technical validation into a new stage of marketization and industrialization, and that the brand will provide operation services to users and partners.

The vehicle is built on XPENG's in-house Turing AI chips, its VLA2.0 large model and its AI infrastructure, extending AI capabilities from its cars into Robotaxi and bridging L2 intelligent driver assistance and L4 autonomous driving. Each Robotaxi carries four Turing AI chips delivering 3,000 TOPS, which XPENG said is the highest in-vehicle compute in the world, and operates without HD maps or LiDAR. XPENG said it is China's first fully in-house developed Robotaxi to reach pre-loaded mass production.

The company set out a sequence of milestones: a mass-produced Robotaxi rolled off the production line in Guangzhou in May 2026; the full chain from online ride-hailing to automated pickup and drop-off was completed in July; and in August XPENG obtained Guangzhou's remote testing qualification for intelligent connected vehicles, allowing road tests without a safety operator in the driver's seat on the city's Class I, II and III test roads. Paid internal testing had earlier been offered at 1 renminbi per ride, mainly to validate the payment process and service workflow.

XPENG said the English name was chosen for recognition in global markets, describing it as short, easy to pronounce and consistent across language environments. Before boarding, users can preset cabin temperature and switch on a fragrance system through the registration process, and the cabin offers zero-gravity seats, massage functions and a large entertainment screen with content services.

He Xiaopeng, chairman and chief executive, said XPENG positions its Robotaxi as a technology provider and ecosystem enabler, earning revenue through hardware sales, services and commission sharing, with offline operations entrusted to global partners. The company said it will deliver a solution combining its vehicle platform, autonomous driving software and AI capabilities.
