Wenge AI demonstrated an AI-assisted workflow for designing hydrogen-production catalysts, run on its ScienceOra platform, at the 2026 Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Summit, the company said. ScienceOra is the company's research decision platform and is built on the ScienceOne Scientific Foundation Model.
Literature and candidate design
The demonstration centred on a high-entropy alloy catalyst for the alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction. The company said ScienceOra searched professional literature and drew on published research methods and elemental properties to support candidate designs, and cross-checked optimisation proposals against relevant literature so the references could be reviewed and verified. Researchers remain responsible for judging scientific validity and deciding the next research directions, the company said.
Test plans and industrial screening
For experimental planning, the platform can help develop research protocols around candidate designs, organise experimental variables and produce testing standard operating procedures and related reference material for validation. For industrial use, the company said it can compare options on the feasibility of scaled hydrogen production, performance at industrially relevant current densities, durability, raw-material availability and compatibility with mass-production synthesis processes, then help set decision priorities, screening criteria and process-improvement recommendations. Candidate designs, plans, recommendations and references can be consolidated into a structured research report.
Earlier collaboration and availability
In a previously disclosed industry-research collaboration on hydrogen-production catalyst design, the company said ScienceOra supported literature analysis and research-plan development, with the collaboration reporting a 38% improvement in catalyst activity and the design stage reduced from several months to 30 minutes.
ScienceOra was recently made available on Tencent WorkBuddy with an initial offering of more than 30 research expert agents and skills covering literature analysis, research hypotheses, plan design, modeling and simulation, validation analysis and research communication. Wenge AI (1956.HK) describes itself as a provider of artificial intelligence technology and service platform products for enterprises, founded by a team of AI scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
