HOZO Hobby Knife launches on Kickstarter with push-button blade changes

HOZO launched its Hobby Knife on Kickstarter on October 13, 2026, the company said. The tool combines a push-button blade-changing mechanism with a case that opens into a cutting workspace.

The mechanism is spring-loaded and takes its cue from the action of a ballpoint pen, according to HOZO. Pressing a button releases and replaces blades, so the handle does not have to be twisted during a change. The handle is hexagonal and made of aluminium, with a raised ring and a textured grip, and a magnetic stainless steel collet holds the blade in place.

The case stores blades and doubles as a compact cutting station. A slide-and-unfold design increases the available work surface, with four configurations for different working positions and project needs. Inside, a modular blade case keeps accessories in dedicated slots and uses magnetic retention so blades do not shift during transport, and a one-way slot is set aside for used blades.

The set's attachments support cutting, carving, sawing and filing. They include standard and long blades, chisel and mini-chisel blades, curved and double-edge blades, U- and V-gouges, a saw and a metal file. HOZO lists applications including 3D-printed part cleanup, leathercraft, woodcraft, jewelry making, scrapbooking, card making, sticker making, scale modeling, Gundam, military and architectural models, dioramas and cosplay props.

The launch adds to HOZO's desktop tool ecosystem, which the company says covers stages from measuring and marking to cutting and sanding. Campaign pricing starts at $59. HOZO was founded in 2018 and develops tools for makers, modelers and DIY enthusiasts; its other products include precision measuring instruments, ultrasonic cutting tools and sanding tools.
