Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization will hold the 8th International Conference on Carbon Recycling 2026 on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at The Westin Tokyo, the conference secretariat announced. The event is scheduled for 13:00 to 17:30 JST and will run in a hybrid format, combining in-person attendance with online participation. Sessions will be held in English and Japanese with simultaneous interpretation, and attendance is free, though advance registration is required.
The organizers describe the meeting as an international platform for sharing and discussing the latest research and development results and business cases in carbon recycling among industry, academia and government in Japan and overseas. They said carbon recycling treats emitted CO2 as a reusable resource and described it as a key technology for achieving carbon neutrality and promoting the green transformation, known as GX, as the response to climate change becomes more urgent.
The program includes an opening and closing ceremony, a session on the global landscape of carbon recycling and Japan's initiatives, a special session, a session on advanced carbon recycling technologies for CO2 value chain development, and a session on industrial collaboration and market development for deploying carbon recycling. Concurrent events include a poster session, a networking reception, a startup event and an exchange of views for students.
The organizers said the conference has been held annually since its first edition in 2019, bringing together government officials, researchers and industry leaders to exchange knowledge on technology development, business deployment and international cooperation.
