CaixaBank extends Google Cloud agreement through 2033

CaixaBank said it has expanded its strategic agreement with Google Cloud, extending a collaboration established in 2023 until 2033. The bank said the arrangement covers artificial intelligence, data management, data analytics and cloud infrastructure, and is intended to increase its use of those technologies.

Under the agreement, CaixaBank will deploy Gemini Enterprise, which the company described as Google Cloud's platform for building, governing and deploying agents. The agents are intended to let the bank's teams pull together complex financial information, take over routine tasks and streamline daily workflows.

The company said the work is organized around three areas. In data analytics and agentic AI, CaixaBank plans to draw insights from large data repositories, with agents handling document management, classification and summarization of complex content. In hybrid infrastructure and security, it will combine its private environment with Google Cloud's infrastructure to address resilience, scalability and service availability, adding threat detection and security monitoring. The third area, workforce training and enablement, covers professional services, joint initiatives and training courses.

The bank said the work will be carried out under its governance and its security, privacy and responsible AI frameworks. The release describes CaixaBank as having the largest digital customer base in Spain's financial industry, with more than 13 million customers.
