The 140th Canton Fair will open on October 15, with robotics among the products on show, the fair's organizers said. The organizers said competition in the category has moved from whether a product uses AI to how well it applies it to practical problems.
For home and elderly care, the organizers described companion robots that use emotion recognition and conversation, which they said helps reduce loneliness and emotional stress while keeping use simple. An eldercare robot combines health monitoring, medication reminders, video consultations, fall detection, emergency alerts, remote caregiving and daily companionship on one platform built for older users, according to the release.
In catering and cleaning, the release states that AI supports autonomous decision-making and coordination between multiple robots to lower operating costs and keep service consistent. Robot platforms for food-service settings can combine service functions with lightweight collaborative arms, and a cleaning robot for public spaces uses autonomous driving and AI waste recognition to clean, dock, charge and replenish without staff, allowing round-the-clock operation.
For emergency response, the release describes explosion-proof fire reconnaissance robots able to operate where fire, smoke, toxic gases and explosive materials are present. With AI reconnaissance and a high-flow firefighting cannon, the organizers said, the robots support fire detection and suppression while reducing danger to rescue personnel.
Visitors are invited to see the applications at the fair, and pre-registration is open online.
