TickTalk 6 smartwatch launched for children aged 3 to 12

TickTalk has released the TickTalk 6, a smartwatch for children aged 3 to 12 that the company said marks ten years of its work on kids' devices. The watch is priced at $169.99 and is in stock at myticktalk.com and Walmart, with a rollout on Amazon under way and Best Buy to come, according to the company.

The company said the watch communicates through voice calls, FaceTalk video calls, group chat, Real SMS, which allows standard texting with approved contacts without the app, and TickTalkie LTE and Wi-Fi walkie-talkie. Location and emergency tools include real-time location tracking, history route, AI SmartPin location learning, SOS calling and 911 emergency support, the company said.

A redesigned TickTalk App serves as the control centre, letting parents manage approved contacts, block unknown callers, set School Mode and Focus settings, schedule reminders, handle wireless plans and audio preferences, and manage TickTalk Radio content and usage. TickTalk Radio, built with Feed.fm, is described by the company as a parent-controlled music and wellness service with content curated by age; parents can preview stations, control access and set listening limits, and Focus Mode restricts listening to wellness content such as calm, sleep, focus and mindfulness.

On hardware, the company said the watch has a slimmer, lighter body, a 1.6-inch AMOLED display, SignalBooster 2.0 antenna technology, IP68 water resistance and up to 135 hours of standby time, along with a stretch-fit washable band in Pacific Teal, Sunshine Yellow, Coral Pink and Black Sand. It supports built-in eSIM activation through TickTalk Wireless, optional travel coverage in more than 160 countries and regions, and free T-Cloud backup for device upgrades and data transfer.

Ying Gong, chief executive of TickTalk Tech, said parents should not have to choose between keeping a child connected and giving them a whole smartphone ecosystem. The company said the device has no games, social media or open internet access.
