TerraMaster has updated TerraSync with an all-in-one file-sharing feature and on-demand sync for the Mac version of TNAS PC, the company said. TerraMaster said the changes are meant to make file sharing simpler for home users, content creators and business teams, and to reduce the local storage that large file libraries take up on Mac computers.
Sharing from folders and links
Users can share files directly from My Files or Team Folders rather than downloading and transferring them repeatedly. Files can be shared with named users or groups holding preview, view or manage permissions, or through two kinds of links: internal links that work only over the local network, and external links created through TNAS.online that can carry configurable permissions, passwords and expiration dates. TerraSync also connects to OnlineOffice for collaborative editing of common Office formats, with version history for tracking or restoring changes; that requires installing the application from the NAS App Center.
On-demand sync on Mac
The new on-demand sync option removes the need to download an entire file library to a computer. Once it is switched on, users browse remote directories locally and pull down files only when required, clearing cached files manually after use, while the system can reclaim cached storage on its own when local space runs low. It works with two-way sync or one-way download mode.
Synchronisation, backup and versions
TerraSync synchronises files across Windows, Mac and Linux, offering two-way sync, one-way upload and one-way download, along with automatic, manual and scheduled backups. Version management keeps up to 32 versions with customisable cleanup rules, and the software continues to provide SSL-encrypted transmission, personal and team folder permissions, and activity logs.
