The Tourism Authority of Thailand is staging VIJIT Thailand 2026 in Lamphun, Trang and Roi Et from 25 September to 18 October, using an expanded regional format shaped around each destination's identity, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand. The programme uses Light & Sound, projection illumination, 3D mapping, drone displays and cultural performances to reinterpret local heritage, nature and culture, and is intended to extend evening activity, encourage regional travel and generate income for local businesses and communities, the authority said.
Each destination carries ten installations or experience points, the authority said. Lamphun's programme draws on Hariphunchai heritage and faith, Trang's on its natural and multicultural character, and Roi Et's on beliefs, music and Isan culture. The format follows earlier VIJIT editions, including Vijit Chao Phraya in Bangkok, and is set out as a prototype for a sustainable event.
Lamphun runs from 25 September to 4 October, 17.00 to 24.00 Hrs., across Lamphun Old Town under the concept "The Eternal Kingdom of Hariphunchai". Ten illuminated locations connect its history, Buddhist heritage, faith and architecture through light art, multimedia and cultural performances, starting at Tha Sing Bridge and taking in sites including the Queen Chamadevi Monument and Wat San Pa Yang. Tha Nang Gate hosts five-minute Light & Sound presentations at 19.00, 20.00, 21.00 and 22.00 Hrs. daily, with fireworks added to the 20.00 Hrs. show on 25 to 27 September and 2 to 4 October. Khum Chao Chakkham Khachonsak also holds four nightly Light & Sound shows at those times, and the Queen Chamadevi Monument has four nightly presentations plus a cultural performance at 19.00 Hrs.
Trang runs from 2 to 11 October, 17.00 to 22.00 Hrs., at Chaloem Phrakiat 95 Public Park in Mueang Trang under the theme "Trang Lights Alive". The lakeside park holds ten illuminated experiences centred on "Magic Island" that interpret dugong, flora, forest, visitor experience and cultural diversity. Roi Et completes the programme from 9 to 18 October, 17.00 to 24.00 Hrs., at Bueng Phlan Chai, with ten installations using illumination, mapping, lasers, mist, LED displays and sound, opening-night fireworks at 19.30 Hrs. on 9 October and live music on 9 to 11 and 17 to 18 October.
The authority said it is targeting 200 million Baht in economic circulation, 150,000 online and on-site participations and 1.5 million awareness impressions across the three destinations.
