Keith Holland, a singer-songwriter based in Corowa, New South Wales, has released "Get on Board," the second single from his second album, 'Castles in the Sand,' which is due in September.

According to the announcement, the song tells a story, in contrast to the album's lead single, "Life," which it describes as dealing with the meaning of existence in abstract terms. "Get on Board" is set out as a fever dream about a ghostly train, an old conductor and a passenger who learns his time has not yet come.

In the narrative, the narrator falls asleep reading an old railway journal and wakes on a long-abandoned platform. A whistle blows, a train pulls in, and an old conductor with what Holland calls "the eyes of father time" sits down beside him. The chorus repeats "Get on board, this train is going somewhere" before the conductor's message arrives: "Son, you know this is not your journey, there's still so much in life you have to do."

Holland said rural Australia has many abandoned railway stations and that he has long found something quietly moving in them, a reminder that nothing around us is permanent. The song turns that into a kind of comfort, he said: death arrives only when it is genuinely time, never a moment before.

Holland played nearly every instrument himself and was joined by longtime collaborator Greg Stace on drums. Stace also mixed and mastered the song at Ralph Street Studios in Sydney, and it was recorded at Keitho's Factory, the home studio Holland built in Corowa. The album contains 11 tracks. Holland spent most of his adult life in social welfare before deciding during the early days of COVID to give music a real chance; he placed an ad in his local newspaper seeking a music marketing professional, and Albury-based Jon Navaho answered, spending close to two years teaching him to produce and arrange his songs and shaping his 2023 debut album, 'All in the Groove.'
