The platform infrastructure
Hanwha Investment & Securities has adopted the Chainlink data standard and the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol as the official data and interoperability infrastructure for a global real-world asset tokenization platform it is building, the two firms said.
Chainlink is supplying pricing and net asset value data for the assets Hanwha issues, while CCIP is to move those assets and liquidity between public and private blockchains. The company said assets can be issued on whichever chain suits them and reach more investors and liquidity through a single integration, rather than a separate build for each new network.
Joint working group
The two firms are setting up a joint working group to examine institutional use cases for executing securely into onchain finance while meeting compliance and custody requirements; the valuation and reserve verification methods and standards needed to use a wide range of real-world assets as collateral; and technology and compliance aligned with the institutionalization of tokenized securities in Korea. Chainlink is also providing dedicated technical support for the platform and priority access to new solutions.
Assets and timing
Hanwha Investment & Securities said it is in discussions with global asset managers and issuers about tokenizing and distributing real-world asset products, and plans to bring them to institutional investors and onchain markets through Chainlink. South Korea is scheduled to introduce its tokenized securities framework in February 2027. The firm is a financial affiliate of Hanwha, a Fortune Global 500 company.
What the executives said
Insung An, Chief Digital Officer at Hanwha Investment & Securities, said the aim is to tokenize quality assets that clients have wanted but found hard to reach, and to open a market where they are issued, distributed and used as collateral across global markets. Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs, said tokenizing assets is only the first step, and that linking them across public and private blockchains is what opens access to users, markets and liquidity.
