The partners are putting Edge AI and agentic AI features into a home broadband gateway, with commercial deployment targeted for 2027.

Gemtek, Qualcomm and gFiber collaborate on AI-native Wi-Fi 8 gateway

Gemtek Technology is showing an AI-native Wi-Fi 8 broadband gateway at Network X 2026, developed with Qualcomm Technologies and gFiber to bring Edge AI and next-generation connectivity into the home, the company said.

The gateway is built on the Qualcomm Dragonwing NPro A8 Elite Platform and engineered by Gemtek, with software from Genix Networks, a Gemtek subsidiary, and gFiber as the launch service provider. It combines Wi-Fi 8 quad-band connectivity, Edge AI computing and intelligent software.

Designed as a home internet hub and a local platform for agentic AI, the device supports network optimization, device awareness, security and proactive management. Genix software links the gateway, devices and network through an AI-driven interface, and voice-controlled application integration lets users ask about device activity, performance and security and take supported actions. Subscribers can manage the home network by natural-language voice commands, and local processing of supported requests is intended to protect privacy, improve responsiveness and reduce reliance on the cloud.

Qualcomm provides the connectivity and AI platform technologies, Gemtek leads product and AI system innovation and integrates hardware with Genix software into a carrier-grade gateway, and gFiber defines the subscriber experience and will be the first operator to deploy the product. The three companies are exploring a broadband model that joins technology, product and AI system innovation and service experience, with commercial deployment targeted for 2027.

Gemtek chief executive James Lee said bringing intelligence to broadband is as much an integration challenge as a technology challenge, and that the collaboration combines Qualcomm's Wi-Fi 8 platform and gFiber's subscriber experience with Gemtek's product engineering and Genix software. Gemtek also describes the gateway as a living-room centerpiece intended to be seen and used.
