Three Samsung products named

Samsung said the Galaxy S26 Ultra has been named to TIME's Best Inventions 2026, the fourth time a Galaxy device has appeared on the annual list. Two other Samsung products were included this year: the Bespoke AI Family Hub Refrigerator with AI Vision and the Odyssey G8 Gaming Monitor, model G80HS.

How the list is chosen

The list is compiled by TIME's global network of expert contributors and editors, Samsung said, and entries are judged on originality, efficacy, ambition and impact.

The phone's cited features

The Galaxy S26 Ultra carries a camera system, Galaxy AI and what Samsung calls the first built-in privacy display on a mobile phone. That setting limits the screen's viewing range so peripheral vision is restricted, has to be switched on by the user, and may change image quality outside that range, the release says. The phone also adds Super Steady video with horizontal lock and tools for making pro-grade content. Samsung said the device was named Consumer Reports' top-rated phone earlier this year.

The refrigerator and the monitor

The Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator uses AI Vision for food management and hands-free operation, and a software update this year widened the range of fresh and processed foods it can recognize and track, according to the release. Its Now Brief and Voice ID features provide personalized calendars, reminders and recipes, while Auto Open & Close Doors respond to a light touch or a voice command.

Samsung describes the 32-inch Odyssey G8 (G80HS) as the industry's first 6K gaming monitor. It has an IPS panel at 224 pixels per inch and runs 6K resolution at up to 165Hz, with a Dual Mode that reaches up to 330Hz at 3K resolution.
