A new probe for Kosmos
EchoNous introduced the Torso NXT on 19 October, presenting it as the next generation of its flagship Torso probe for the Kosmos ultrasound platform. EchoNous said the device is the first of several planned product introductions meant to expand the platform's capabilities, and that it brings improved image quality, usability and field serviceability together with more processing power and speed intended to support new AI applications. Tony Titus, the company's chief executive, said clinicians had told EchoNous they wanted an ultra-portable, easy-to-service probe that does not compromise on the capabilities they rely on daily.
Imaging features carried over
The probe keeps the feature set of the Torso family, according to the company. Clinicians can image the heart, lungs, abdomen and bladder and perform OB/GYN exams. Auto EF, AI FAST, Auto Doppler and Bladder AI sit alongside a CW, PW, TDI and Color Doppler suite. The device is IP67-rated, carries a warranty and is made in the United States.
Smaller body, replaceable cable
EchoNous said the probe is smaller by volume and narrower than its predecessor, with a 360-degree grip designed to let clinicians hold it from any angle during long shifts. Its wired cable is fully replaceable and held by a screw-locking reinforced collar, so clinical or biomedical engineering teams can change it on site rather than sending the whole probe away for service. The company said the wired connection avoids the lag, added weight and battery management issues it associates with wireless devices.
Availability
Torso NXT is on sale in the United States and is compatible with Kosmos Mobile, Kosmos Plus, Kosmos Tablet G1 and Kosmos Link. It operates under FDA 510(k) clearance K212100, which was obtained under the earlier Torso-One probe, the company said. Further international markets will follow as regulatory clearances are secured, and EchoNous is showing the device at CHEST 2026 in Phoenix from 19 to 21 October.
