CLDN Cayman Ltd, the Cayman Islands entity of Singapore-headquartered proprietary trading group Caladan, has been registered with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority as a Registered Person under the Securities Investment Business Act, effective 7 October 2026, the company said.
The group said the registration establishes a regulatory foundation in the Cayman Islands to support the development of its derivatives business, and that it plans to build out that business through CLDN Cayman Ltd. Caladan also said it is assessing opportunities in tokenised real-world assets, including financial instruments that fall within the securities investment business framework, and is looking at liquidity provision and market-making in those assets.
Julia Zhou, president of Caladan, said the registration reflected a commitment to building a trading business that meets the evolving standards of institutional markets. She said the industry's maturation made the right regulatory foundations essential to expanding capabilities responsibly, that the registration supports the next stage of the group's institutional derivatives strategy, and that tokenised real-world assets are being explored as traditional financial assets increasingly move onchain.
Caladan said any activities would remain within the relevant entity's permitted scope, would be for eligible counterparties, and would be subject to applicable law and any further regulatory permissions required. It also said no Caladan group company is licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, that nothing in its announcement is an offer or solicitation to persons in Singapore, and that it does not offer products or services to retail investors or the public there.
