A portion of this will go to Queanbeyan Regional Hospital.

The New South Wales Government will allocate $900,000 to upgrade hospitals and medical facilities in the southern region.

The government said in a statement it was part of the Mings Labor Government’s $12 million regional health minor works program, which includes 61 projects across the state.

Projects at the Southern NSW Local Health District include a $345,000 upgrade to the anesthesia delivery system at Queanbeyan Regional Hospital and a $245,000 purchase of a new laparoscope stack – a key tool for laparoscopic surgery – at Moruya Hospital.

The program will also allocate $120,000 to purchase five new slit-lamp ophthalmoscopes for eye examinations at Batemans Bay, Braidwood, Cooma, Queanbeyan and Moruya regional hospitals, and $190,000. Purchase 12 new bladder scanners for the diagnosis, management and treatment of urinary flow dysfunction.

“This scheme is one of many investments the Mins Labor Government is making to strengthen rural and regional health services so that people can get the best care close to home,” regional health minister Ryan Park said.
