GlobalData says there is an unmet long-term treatment need for chronic hand eczema (CHE), creating a clear need for new therapies.
Although topical corticosteroids are widely used for their anti-inflammatory properties, their long-term use is limited by side effects such as skin thinning.
Meanwhile, treatments like emollients and moisturizers can provide moisture but don’t address the underlying inflammation.
“Doctors may prescribe immunosuppressants such as calcineurin inhibitors, but long-term use may have negative consequences, including kidney dysfunction,” said GlobalData healthcare analyst Filippos Maniatis.
“To address unmet needs in CHE treatment, further research and clinical trials focused on safety and patient quality of life are critical,” Maniatis added.
