It will ensure the safety and well-being of residents and travelers while facilitating customs clearance.

Hong Kong and Shenzhen signed a memorandum of understanding on entry-exit health inspection and quarantine.

The MOU was witnessed by Professor Law Chung-moo, Director of the Hong Kong Health Bureau, and Wang Lingjun, Deputy Director-General of the General Administration of Customs of China.

Luo said that since the signing of the “Entry-Exit Health Inspection and Quarantine Cooperation Arrangement” in November 2023, the two places have strengthened disease prevention work and smoothed health inspection communication.

The MoU aims to deepen cooperation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and travelers while facilitating customs clearance.

In addition, Luo and Wang discussed measures to facilitate the cross-border flow of special items for scientific research, including measures to facilitate the cross-border flow of special items such as human tissue, biological products, and blood products for scientific research. This coincides with the “Several Measures to Support the Comprehensive Deepening of Reform and Opening Up in the Shenzhen Park of the Loop Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone” recently issued by the General Administration of Customs.

Luo also mentioned the importance of efficient cross-border cooperation to support the establishment of a clinical trial cooperation platform in the Greater Bay Area.

He said that the platform, located in the Loop Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, will enhance the research and development capabilities of the Greater Bay Area and accelerate clinical trials.

He said that the customs will work closely with the General Administration of Customs and Shenzhen Customs to promote the timely implementation of relevant cross-border facilitation policies.
