Manipal Hospital in India announced the use of Abbott’s Aveir leadless pacemaker for cardiac surgery.
This wireless injectable pacemaker uses nanotechnology to remain safely in the heart and is expected to last up to 25 years.
At the same time, the device’s non-magnetic design ensures compatibility with MRI machines, airport scanners and high-pressure environments.
It also features Bluetooth technology for remote monitoring and adjustments.
The device was implanted in a 65-year-old woman at Manipal Hospital in Dhakuriya and later in two other patients at Medica Superspecialty Hospital and Mukundapur Manipal Hospital.
