Vietnam to build north-south high-speed railway

The Vietnamese government said on Saturday it would build a high-speed rail line from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City at a cost of $67 billion, according to local media reports.

this The rail line will run from the capital North to the country’s commercial center to the south, a distance of more than 1,500 kilometers (930 miles).

The move, which was voted in favor by the National Assembly, is likely to cut travel time from 30 hours to about five hours and is expected to significantly boost infrastructure and boost economic growth.

According to Singapore’s Business Times, the project is expected to start in 2027 and be completed in 2035, with funding likely to come from long-term bonds, official development assistance and concessional loans. .
