Minor works are planned to start in the first half of 2025.

The Australian government of New South Wales has announced a US$1.07 million (A$1.7 million) grant aimed at upgrading hospitals and medical facilities in the region.

Regional Health Minister Ryan Park said the Northern New South Wales Local Health District would carry out a number of projects as part of the government’s US$7.6 million (A$12 million) District Health Minor Works Programme.

Major projects include upgrading Lismore Base Hospital’s cardiac catheterization laboratory coolers and improving observation, isolation areas and courtyards in the facility’s mental health high dependency unit.

The mortuary at McLean District Hospital will be improved, the emergency department at Grafton Base Hospital will receive a short-stay unit upgrade and the hot water system will be replaced in general wards at Ballina District Hospital.

Meanwhile, Goonellabah Dental Services will carry out roof replacement, while Nimbin MPS will carry out exterior painting and refurbishment.

Minor works are planned to start in the first half of 2025.
