Yongcheon Tower in the historical Korean drama is located opposite the Royal Palace Stay in Hanyang. The fictional hotel is not as grand as the palace, but it was the grandest hotel in Hanyang, the capital of the Joseon Kingdom from 1392 to 1897. Anyone with enough money to spend can be treated like royalty there – even wear royal robes and role-play.

It’s such a great place to work and people strive for the opportunity. Applicants require a special invitation to take the employment test. However, two of the show’s characters find ways to circumvent the rules and start working there. They all have complex reasons. Prince Lee Eun, played by Bae In Hyuk, asks the king to allow him to apprentice there because he wants to know what it’s like to be a merchant. What he really wants is to solve the mystery surrounding the hotel and protect the royal family.

Jung Gun Joo plays the heir to the famous Hanyang Hotel.

Another desperate applicant is Hong Deok-soo, played by Kim Ji-eun. Deok-soo starts dressing up in men’s clothing to hide from her father’s killer, but her disguise also makes it easier for her to find work at a hotel. She claims that her goal is to one day become the hotel master of Longquan Tower. Deok-soo also has a mystery to solve, one involving the hotel and its owner (played by Kim Min-jung). The prince soon suspects that Deok-soo holds the key to his quest for answers. It might take a while to convince her to help him.

Bae was asked about the show in a recent interview.

“The setting is the Joseon era, a long time ago,” he said. “But the theater style is very stylish, and I’m working with great actors who are worth watching. It’s really stylish and fun. You won’t regret it.

The actor previously played a Joseon-era prince in a 2022 drama Under the Queen’s umbrella. He is also known for his roles in the drama The story of Park’s engagement, Why her?The spring in the distance is green and My roommate is a nine-tailed fox. Kim Ji-eun can also be seen in TV dramas Love the neighbor, the brand is in Shengshui and One dollar lawyer.

Zheng Jianzhu (secret romantic hotel, bittersweet hell, Monthly magazine home page and oh my baby) plays Qian Junhua, a senior brother who happens to be the successor of Long Chuanru. The prince and Deok-soo also become friends with the arrogant apprentice Go So-ra (played by singer, actor and composer Park Jae-chan). Jaechan is a member of the Korean pop music group DKZ and appeared in the BL TV series Semantic error.

Together, these apprentices must learn the ropes while trying to unlock the hotel’s secrets. Check in to Hanyang Written by Park Hyun-jin and directed by Myung Hyun-woo. Channel A Korean dramas are broadcast on Viki.com in the United States
