Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran announces 'grand party' in Peshawar on December 13

Islamabad – PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that a “grand rally” will be held in Peshawar on December 13 to “pay tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives during the party’s recent rally in Islamabad”.

On November 13, jailed PTI founder Imran Khan issued a “final call” for nationwide protests on November 24 to demand the restoration of PTI’s electoral mandate, the release of detained party members and the overthrow of 26th Amendment.

In the early hours of November 27, a day of fierce fighting between security forces and PTI protesters unfolded across the federal capital, culminating in a hasty retreat of the party’s top leadership and supporters from the red zone.

PTI claimed that at least 12 party supporters were killed in Islamabad after law enforcement agencies (LEAs) opened fire during the party’s “Last Call” protest. The government has repeatedly refuted the accusations, claiming that security personnel were deployed “without live ammunition”.

In an update shared on his X account, Imran lamented the killings of party supporters “due to state terrorism”, adding that “a dictatorship has been established in the country”.

“Hundreds of our workers are missing,” Imran said. “It is time for the Supreme Court to take note of this and play its constitutional role.

“We approached the Supreme Court, Lahore High Court and Islamabad High Court regarding gross human rights violations, but the courts did not take any action and the country has reached this point!” he added.

Imran’s latest news not only announced the rally but also announced the formation of a group consisting of Omar Ayub Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur, Sahibzada Hameed Raza, Salman ·A five-member negotiating team composed of Akram Raja and Asad Qaiser.

The group will negotiate with the federal government on two points: the release of political prisoners facing trial and the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26, 2023.

“If these two demands are not accepted, the civil disobedience movement will begin on December 14,” Imran warned. “The government will be responsible for the outcome of this movement.”
