TP-Link has 65% of the market, and federal authorities are investigating potential vulnerabilities in the company’s equipment that could be exploited by foreign entities to conduct cyberattacks.
TP-Link is the leading router brand on Amazon. As of this month, TP-Link’s Archer AX21 model ranks first in Amazon’s “Best-Selling Computer Routers” category, followed by the TP-Link AX1800. Among the best-selling routers, TP-Link holds six of the top ten spots.
Federal agencies including the Commerce, Defense and Justice departments have launched an investigation into TP-Link following reports that its routers were used in cyberattacks allegedly linked to Chinese state actors. A recent report from Microsoft revealed that infected TP-Link devices were used in ransomware operations, raising concerns about the company’s role in facilitating cyber threats.
